There are 2 things that you should know when hiring a DJ for your event that no-one ever really talks about and is also considered a "touchy" subject. This deals with feeding and tipping your DJ.
1. Feed your DJ. Your DJ may have had to travel quite a distance to be at your site and is there at least an hour before the event to setup. If it is a buffet style, invite your DJ to grab something after the guests have gone through the line. If a sit down meal, you don't have to reserve a plate, unless you want to. Most places offer a vendor meal.
2. Tip your DJ. Now, this does get a little tricky. If your DJ did an excellent job of making everything flow and made your reception a success, then tip him. The average tip for your DJ is 20% of the total contract amount. Please keep in mind, that most DJ's work for a company and only get a small portion of the contract amount for their pay. So, the tip is a way of saying "Thank you" for doing an excellent job. |
